Leonardo K – Farming (Candabong, Manjuyod, Negros Oriental, Philippines)
Leonardo is 55 years and has two children aged 15 and 16. He lives with his wife and family in Negros Oriental, where they farm 2 hectares of land, growing bananas and vegetables, mostly aubergine (eggplant). He also employs two workers, and sells his produce in a market 19 km away. The loan of 50,000 Philippine pesos (approximately $1300) is being provided by First Consolidated Cooperative through Lend With Care (an initiative of CARE International) and will be used to purchase fertilizer, seed and additional agricultural supplies to enhance production.
