Juan Cruz Mamani – Civil Engineering (Bolivia)
Juan dreams of becoming a civil engineer. Neither of Juan’s parents had the opportunity to attend high school and as the oldest of three, he is the first in his family to do so. With only his father working and supporting five, the household finances are tight. In addition to school, Juan works 25 hours a week to pay for his tuition fees but it is not enough. With this loan Juan plans on purchasing the books and materials he needs for his civil engineering degree. He expects to graduate in December of 2014 but feels that without textbooks he will not be as successful in school as he hopes to be. Juan’s alternative plan is to take time off from school to work and save some money until he can return. With a loan, Juan won’t have to.
